When Bryana Novegil was in college, she had no idea where her career would take her.

She was a student-athlete.

Juggling classes.

Practices.

And whatever little downtime she could find.

Just trying to make it through the semester.

Then her professor made it mandatory to attend a career fair.

Which she didnโ€™t think she had time for.

Of course!

โ€œLooking back, that day changed everything.โ€

Whatโ€™d she realize?

Sometimes the opportunities we donโ€™t want to pursue are the ones that shape our future.

Since then, sheโ€™s taken a few things that have helped her build a career in the sports industry.

And they can spark yours too:

1. Say yes to opportunities.

Even if they donโ€™t seem like a perfect fit.

The best paths arenโ€™t always obvious.

2. Be confident in the room.

Youโ€™re there for a reason.

So show up as if you belong.

And if someone doesnโ€™t choose you?

You can hop into a shorter line somewhere else.

3. Network intentionally.

Shake hands.

Introduce yourself.

And leave an impression.

Bryana went to the least popular booth at the fair.

And pitched them with honesty.

She said, โ€œIโ€™m looking for an opportunity.

And the other lines here โ€ฆ

Theyโ€™re long.

Nobodyโ€™s taking a shot on you.

I want to invest in your organization.

I know I can bring value to it.โ€

4. Remember your โ€œwhyโ€.

For Bryana, itโ€™s family.

Community.

And the joy of working in an industry she loves.

Your โ€œwhyโ€ keeps you going.

Especially on the tough days.

And finally, donโ€™t be defined by your title.

Your career is what you do.

But itโ€™s not who you are.

If youโ€™re starting out,

looking to transition,

or even wondering if this industry is for you,

you also belong here.

Every experience.

Every setback.

Every step forward.

Itโ€™s all part of the journey.
