Why do we exist?

We exist to create a space for you.

You bust your ass every day to solve problems, create new ways of thinking, to keep your people informed, to stay engaged with your family, to keep winning. Too often, that leaves little room for reflection, for growth, for experimentation.

We all need more time and space to focus on our craft — both on-the-field and off-the-field. Our mission is to help make that happen with you.

So …

There’s only us. We each have our distinct expertise; we are the best at it. So we need each other’s expertise! We have big goals to help bridge gaps between tradition and what’s new, the front office and the clubhouse, to share the best of what we do throughout the baseball system, and to give you the tools to live the greatest moment you’ve ever imagined since you were a kid.

What can we do together?

For starters, anyone in pro ball — and outside for that matter — can access our website. We all have a championship we’re trying to take our team to and win. You can browse through best practices for building that championship team. And you can stay connected when you’re on the road by following us on LinkedIn.

We want to have an impact much larger than the size of ourselves. And how we do that evolves over time. In general, we identify patterns and widespread needs and address them in scalable ways. Most importantly, we can help more people throughout the game have the think-differently, problem-solving conversation and see their best practices — reminding us there’s a lot of room for variation and experimentation.

So what can we do when we’re working together?

  • If you want inspiration or to learn championship winning techniques from us, we organize a webinar event called, “How We Won.” Topics include “How to Coach Players,” “How to Coach the People Developing the Players” and more from the How We Won Blog.

  • If you want meaningful feedback, or space to reflect and learn, we organize listening and constructive feedback sessions.

  • If you want to try something new, we can help you structure growth experiments.

  • If you’ve just been hired, called up, or want to stay at the top we’ll facilitate your orientation to all things leadership.

  • If you need to run a leadership training session or conference, we help you think through it, structure it, and lead the training.

  • If you want in-person training, we visit you and your team.

  • We work to keep all leadership training in your hands. Nothing beats learning on the job, and you still bear the responsibility of supporting your employees’ and team’s development. 

  • We focus on leadership training. Not fixing people. We stick to topics that are central to talents and strengths and elite performance.

What won’t we do together?

Given that we serve leaders from every team, we have to be selective about the projects we take on. We don’t want to be mean about it and when we say yes to every training request, we end up with a waiting list miles long.

Here’s an example of things we won’t do:

  • We don’t focus on the past, the problem, what’s wrong, weakness or deficiencies. We learn more about greatness by studying successes than we do failures. So anything that’s keeping us from success will be managed with a focus on the future, opportunities, talents and strengths.

We may not always be able to help you directly. And we’ll do our best to connect you with the support you need.

Coaches vs trainers vs facilitators: What are we?

You know best what you and your staff needs. So while we personally run coaching sessions and training sessions and workshops, all of our work is done through a partnership with you. That means we will talk with you to understand your needs and then help you design and execute training. You are in charge.
